Cite Europe is a large indoor shopping complex 4 kilometres from the center of Calais and is a popular choice with cross Channel day trippers due to the sheer variety of shops and restaurants within the complex.
The shops in Cite Europe are open Monday to Saturday between 10:00 and 20:00. The Cite Europe hypermarket is open between 09:00 and 21:00 Monday to Wednesday, and from 09:00 to 21:30 Thursday to Saturday.
Most bars and restaurants are open every day between the hours of 10:00 and 22:00.
Beware of cheap ferry or Eurotunnel Le Shuttle deals on Sundays if you wish to visit the Cite Europe complex hypermarket, as shops and the hypermarket are not open on this day.
Getting to Cite Europe
from Dover/Calais ferry
The ferry terminal brings you out on Rocade E (E15). After 5 minutes or so, take the A16, signposted Boulogne, then exit 41 or 43 and follow signs to Cite Europe. Ample parking is available within the complex.
from Eurotunnel Le Shuttle
Cite Europe is virtually next door to the Eurostar Terminal. When leaving the train there are ample directions to the Centre.
Ferry Foot Passengers
Any day trippers who are travelling to France as foot passengers can take a bus to the rail station. From there, you can catch a number 7 bus to visit Cite Europe.
There are over 150 shops in the Cite Europe complex, including fashion, beauty, sports and homeware outlets. There is also a large Carrefour store, a popular French hypermarket, situated on level 2 of the complex. This hypermarket offers a good selection of wine, beer and groceries but is not as large as the Auchan Calais hypermarket.
Please note that there is no tabac (for cigarettes) situated at the Cite Europe complex.
There is a petrol station situated close to Cite Europe. Prices at this petrol station are generally more favourable than in the UK. We always try to arrive at Cite Europe with a quarter of a tank of fuel, before filling up for the journey back to England. The petrol station is usually open between 09:00 and 20:30 Monday to Friday, and from 08:30 to 20:30 on Saturdays.
There are numerous cash machines dotted around the Cite Europe complex, although we recommend Pounds into Euros before you leave the United Kingdom. Travellers cheques may also be accepted, but we recommend Euro notes are used for the majority of purchases.
